No letters, only three digits, clear as day, that's it. I've cleaned the bike pretty thoroughly a couple times, and if there was another serial number on there, I would have found it by now.

Almost all English 3-speeds have Sturmey-Archer rear hubs. Sturmey-Archer was a division of Raleigh, made many different models since 1902, and were still in business until October, 2000.
